Nehemiah

A Jew who returned to Jerusalem from Susa. He was the son of Hakaliah and Hanani was his brother. He was a trusted official in the Persian government. He was the wine taster for Artaxerxes. This meant that he made sure that the king’s food and wine wasn’t poisoned. He served twice as the governor of Jerusalem. He led the Jews to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem.
