Reading the Bible in a year

What to expect, and how not to give up in February.

Reading the whole Bible is a genuinely worthwhile thing to do. It's also where a lot of good intentions go to die, usually around the middle of Exodus.

Some honest advice.

**Expect hard stretches.** Genealogies, sacrificial regulations, long lists of tribal boundaries. Skim them without guilt if you must, but ask why they mattered enough to be preserved.

**Falling behind is not failing.** Miss a week, pick up where you are rather than trying to catch up. Nobody is marking this.

**Pair it with something devotional.** A plan gives you breadth; a shorter daily reading or devotional gives you depth. You want both.

**Read with someone.** Even a single friend to compare notes with roughly doubles the odds you'll finish.

The Reading Plans section of this app has several to choose from, including shorter ones if a full year feels like too much to commit to right now.
