Big questions

Does God exist?

Nobody can prove God like a maths theorem, but there are good reasons to believe. The universe had a beginning, and things that begin to exist have a cause. Its laws are finely balanced in a way that makes life possible. And we have a deep sense that some things are truly right and wrong, not just preferences, which is hard to explain without a moral lawgiver.

Christians also point to Jesus. If God exists, we might expect him to show himself, and Christians believe he has: in a real person, in history, whose life, death and resurrection we can examine.

Belief in God isn’t a leap in the dark. It’s more like a reasonable step into the light.

From the Bible

The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows his handiwork.

Psalm 19:1

For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse.

Romans 1:20
