Big questions

Hasn’t science disproved God?

Science is brilliant at explaining how the natural world works. But it can’t, by its own methods, tell us whether there is anything beyond nature, or why there is a world at all, or why it is orderly enough for science to work.

Many founders of modern science were Christians who studied nature precisely because they believed a rational God made it. Many scientists today are Christians too.

Christians may hold different views on how God created, but science and faith answer different questions, and both can be true.

From the Bible

3When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained; 4what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him?

Psalm 8:3–4

16For by him all things were created, in the heavens and on the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and for him. 17He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.

Colossians 1:16–17
